I attended the "Tohtoripromootio" ceremony. It is "Conferment of doctoral degrees" in English, but it is a little different from the ceremony in Japan. Tohtoripromootio is only held every five years. In the Tohtoripromootio, the doctoral hat is conferred on new doctors who received their Ph.D. after the previous ceremony.
